Cause Marketing
- A Strategic Word of Mouth Tool
Did you hear the one about the physician association that aligned with a
soft drink company to promote healthy consumption? Misguided yes and
it can teach us a thing or two about cause adoption and word of mouth.
Happy Holidays to All. We will see you in 2010!
Corporate Social Responsibility - Getting It Right
Here is a related article from Marketing Profs on corporate social
responsibility
and how to get it right. Aligning with the right causes, walking the walk
of the cause you adopt, organizing and communicating your
strategy are covered in this primer.
What is Word of Mouth Success Anyway?
While on the subject of word of mouth, how do you measure it?
Marketers shouldn't try to track dollars in, dollars out. Success occurs
when
conversations are generated about your brand and companies learn from
consumers
sharing their experiences. Businesses interested in WOM to increase brand
awareness
must overcome any fears they have about surrendering one-way communication
control associated with advertising or other non-interactive tactics.
Steps to Avoid an Awful Healthcare Experience
While this article is about hospitals it could well be about any healthcare
interaction. What is interesting to note and something we contend is that
health reform will change little about how healthcare operates.
At the end of day the people who need you will find you.
Whether they come back is up to you.
HARVARD ARTICLE ALERT!
Authentic Leadership
What is leadership? Is a leader someone who is authentic all the time or
can
a leader where a mask when appropriate and take it off when it is not?
After reading the article,
view this video blog for my thoughts.
Another Harvard Article? Get out of town. Managing Five Generations of
Workers
This article caught my attention because this issue has surfaced on a
current project.
The nature and the expectations of the workforce are changing quickly.
Older physicians, hospital and practice administrators, OK people my
age, are lamenting that the
younger generation simply does not have the work ethic they do and that
affects productivity. Add to the mix a bad economy forcing people who
would have otherwise been retiring now re-entering the workforce and you
have a myriad of issues that this article examines.
Social
Media and the Medical Student
Here is one way that generational differences manifest. A recent study in
the
Journal of the American Medical Association found that 60% of U.S. medical
schools
surveyed reported incidents of students posting unprofessional content
online.
Meanwhile, social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter are becoming
the
newest tools used by recruiters to identify and screen potential job
candidates,
including those well out of medical school. In terms of self branding this
article has some implications of which everyone should pay attention.
Fierce Healthcare - Video Worth Watching
Here are some comical videos related to healthcare that Fierce Healthcare
has cited as worth watching. I confess I did. Some are quite good. Enjoy.
